Privacy Policy

The directors, management and staff of Rogue River Community Credit Union (RRCCU) are concerned about and respect the privacy of our member’s personal financial information. We understand that our members furnish sensitive information to the credit union during the course of doing daily business and we at RRCCU are committed to treating your personal information responsibly. We know that our members expect privacy and security of their personal and financial affairs and it is our intention to protect your information.

RRCCU will take all necessary steps to safeguard sensitive information that has been entrusted to us by our members. The following Privacy Policy outlines our practices and procedures regarding personally identifiable financial information for our members and others with which we establish a “member relationship”.

Types of Information the Credit Union Collects.

At RRCCU, we gather nonpublic personal information from many sources. The Credit Union collects nonpublic personal information directly from members, joint owners, co-borrowers, and guarantors on various applications and forms. For example, loan applications and membership applications.

The Credit Union also collects information as a result of transactions between the credit union and individuals, and as a result of providing our products and services. This includes transaction information from share drafts (checking), automated teller machine (ATM) cards, and electronic transfers (for example: home banking or automated clearinghouse (ACH) transactions. Non-public personal information does not include information the credit union obtains from government records, widely distributed media, or any government mandated disclosures.

Types of Information the Credit Union Discloses

The Credit Union will not disclose any personal financial information to any non-affiliated or affiliated third party. By law the credit union may disclose certain personally identifiable information without allowing members the right to opt out of the credit union’s information sharing agreements in the following circumstances:

  • To companies performing transaction processing for the Credit Union
  • If the transaction, service or product is requested or authorized by the member.
  • To maintain or service a member’s account as part of a private label credit card or other loan extension program.
  • In the case of a securing, secondary market sale, (this includes servicing rights) or similar transactions related to a member.
  • To disclose information necessary to enforce the credit union’s legal or contractual rights or the rights of any other person who is engaged in a financial transaction.
  • To disclose information required in the ordinary course of business, such as in the settlement of claims or benefits, the confirmation of information to the member or their agent, and the billing, processing or clearing of items in the normal course of business.
  • To provide information to insurance rate advisory organization, agencies that are rating the credit union, persons that are assessing the credit union’s compliance with the industry standards, and the credit union’s attorneys, accountants and auditors.
  • To the extent permissible under the Rights of Financial Privacy Act (RFPA)
  • To a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • To comply with federal, state or local laws, rules and other applicable legal requirements.

Safeguarding Member Information

At RRCCU, we protect our member’s sensitive information, to ensure their privacy by making sure that only employees who have a business reason for knowing information have access to it. The credit union has appointed a Financial Privacy Coordinator, who is responsible for maintaining internal procedures to ensure that our members’ information is protected. All employees have a copy of this policy and are trained at least annually regarding the importance of safeguarding our member information. The Financial Privacy Coordinator will take disciplinary action against any employee who violates the credit union’s privacy policy and procedures. A copy of the privacy will be distributed annually, giving members the option to opt out of any changes to the policy.

E-mail

Please refrain from including personal information (such as account number, social security number, or passwords) in an email. We cannot guarantee the security of e-mail messages against interception by unauthorized individuals. RRCCU will not email a request for personal information. Any email received requesting personal information on behalf of RRCCU should be reported to the CU by forwarding it to memberservices@rrccu.com.

Linking to Other Web Sites

RRCCU is not responsible for the content of any third party Web site or the privacy practices of such third parties. In addition, a link from our Web site to another Web site does not indicate that the Credit Union endorses the services or policies of such third party Web site. You should always investigate the information practices of all Web sites that you access and carefully examine the privacy policies, if any, of the Web sites appearing on or linking to or from our Web site. Information collected from the linked Web sites will be subject to the information practices of those Web sites.

Protecting Children's Privacy Online

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) was passed by Congress in October 1998, with a requirement that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issue and enforce rules concerning children's online privacy. The primary goal of the Act and the Rule is to place parents in control over what information is collected from their children online. RRCCU uses cookies to enhance your visit to the web site.  Cookies are messages that a Web server transmits to a Web browser so that the Web server can keep track of the user's activity on a specific Web site. The text is entered into the memory of the browser. The browser in turn stores the cookie information on the hard drive so when the browser is closed and reopened at a later date the cookie information is still available.  Used to collect demographic information about who is visiting the Web site. To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, social security number and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask for your driver's license or other identifying documents.
